Spain’s Gran Canaria is the 3rd largest island in the Canary islands northwest off the African coast. It is also one of the most popular winter bike destinations for all forms of riding XC, All-mountain to Enduro. Like the entire Canary Islands, Gran Canaria is of volcanic origin and, thanks to its combination with its proximity close to Africa and the resulting tropical climate, represents a unique adventure. The volcanic sandy ground shifting colors from red, through black to gold, arid cactuses strewn across the mountains like in the deserts of Utah. The landscape switches to beautiful green pine forests surrounded by bare peaks rising up to almost 2,000 meters above sea provide literally breathtaking views.
It’s a mountain bikers dream, as the descents are almost endless with 25-50kms with one shuttle to the top all the way to the ocean. During this trip, you will get to know all parts of the island during 4 riding days with local guides and shuttling every day (for a minimum of uphill with about 200-400 height meters). Specifically, it is the South, the most popular location, will go here trails such as the unique Camino de la Plata, interesting for its stone character and its “paved road” with many switchbacks or the El Diablo trail, often literally carved into the mountain, the North with its epic Green Nirvana trails, or the East with the extremely long Guayadeque (over 50km) at the bottom along the ocean.
The island itself is less than 70kms wide, we can easily change our plans for the day, e.g. in case of bad weather in one part of the island and go in another direction. The weather is ideal for riding almost all year long with the average temperature not falling below 16 degrees and not climbing higher than 23 in august. It is the perfect EN/AM destination and a source of unforgettable experiences.
Difficulty
Gran Canaria is ideal for upper intermediate and advanced enduro riders. Difficulty ranges from blue, red to black, however what makes it more demanding are the very long all-day descents with the stony and dry surface. If the Enduro trails turn out to be too much for us or we want to try something new, we can reduce the difficulty by a notch and switch to trails meant for the All-mountain category and experience a slightly different experience. We will determine the exact set of trails together with local guides on the spot based on the group’s setup, preferences and abilities, as well as the weather and condition of the trails.

Pricing
If you buy for 2 or more riders we are able to provide a group discount. We can also arrange a private trip for you and your group. Please reach out to us if you want to book for multiple riders and we will give you a custom price as each trip has a different pricing structure.
Minimum amount of riders is 5. The maximum is 6 due to shuttle limitations.

There are multiple bike shops here so most things can be bought or repaired also on-site, just make sure if you have something specific for your bike, that is not readily available in bike shops to take it with you. We will do our best to get any issues fixed ASAP so you can continue your ride.
Bike
As this is an Enduro MTB trip, please make sure your bike fits the category, a full suspension bike with at least 140mm front and back, ideally more.
Accommodation
We will specify accommodation closer to the date. However it will be 2-3 person rooms in an apartment or bed & breakfast on a standard comfort level, so that we get a good nights sleep, a hot shower and have space to put our things to dry. Our bikes will be stored safely for the night.
Guide/s
This trip will be guided by local certified MTB guides that are active in building and maintaining the trails and therefore know them really well. A Traildeer guide will be closing the group at the back to ensure no one gets lost and everyone can ride their own tempo as well as organize all activities locally around accommodation, transportation and most importantly riding (communication with local guides, planning, scheduling, meeting points etc.).
Cancellation

In case we need to cancel the trip for any reason we will refund the whole fee in full. We’re fully insured and financially covered so whatever happens, if we need to cancel a trip from our end, you will receive your money back.
Rider cancels long trip (4-7 days)
Please contact as ASAP in case you need to cancel the trip for any reason. The following terms apply:
- up to 2 weeks before 80% of your fee is refunded, we keep the reservation fee to cover costs.
- up to 1 week before 50% of your fee is refunded to cover the costs of a vacant seat and potentially not finding a replacement.
- less then a week before a trip we cannot refund any fees, as we already have costs with accommodation, guides etc. and we will not be able to find a replacement.
We will try our best to find a replacement and try to refund the most we can if you have to cancel, but please keep the above conditions in mind if we do not succeed.
