There are only a few MTB destinations in Europe as famous as Italian Livigno. Although it is probably best known for its two bike parks Mottolino and Carousello 3000 located on opposite sides of the town, the natural trails in the entire area surrounding Livigno are even more epic. We will spend 4-5 riding days alternating riding in the bike parks, with picturesque shuttled enduro tours to Bernina or Stelvio (depending on conditions) with some minor pedaling of 500 height meters involved and we will also visit our most favorite spot Bormio with the lifts taking us up to 3000m, riding all the way down to Santa Catarina and exploring the are there further.
Mottolino Bike Park
If you’re looking for one single spot where everyone will find the most suited trail for their level of riding then Mottolino is probably one of the best options. With 14 trails of all difficulties, both fully natural tracks with all that an enduro trail should feature and more as well as manmade bike park style trails with north shores, big drops, whale tales and tons of tables ranging from beginner to dirt jump pro level Livigno is a dream come true. The park is definitely worth at least 2 days of riding so you can get to know the trails and enjoy them fully.
Carousello Bike Park
Carousello was not built as a bike park initially, but has been turned into one and now features over 12 trails with most being panoramatic trails with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains as well as the most recently built flow trails with many tables that are ideal for those who love speed and air. The Bomb trail is the only black technical trails in Caroussello and even though much of it has been constructed to fit the black diamond bill, it does have appeal and a level of challenge unique to Livigno.
Bormio & Santa Caterina
If you are following us for some time you know that Bormio is so far the best day tour destination we’ve been to and that says a lot. First we get the lift to the mid-station and then the old big lift is taking over taking us all the way to the top. From there we will enjoy one of the most fantastic rides out there. On the way down we will encounter all sorts of terrain ranging from moon-country with rock everywhere, through beautiful meadows rich on vegetation, small azure lakes as well as a lush forest for pure joy. We will have lunch in Santa Caterina from where the lift will take us up again and we will enjoy the trails above this lovely village.
Bernina
A huge mountain range Lombardy and Switzerland with the Bernina peak 4049 m.a.s.l. will be our final destination on the trip. The shuttles will assist our uphill 3 times on the way so that we enjoy the breathtaking views Bernina offers. On our descent of the Bernina trail you can look forward to panoramic views coupled with technical riding on top and faster more flowy trails as we get lower. The Col d’Anzana trail is technically quite demanding with many switchbacks, steeps sections and loads of natural obstacles testing our riding level.
The trip will include accommodation for 6 nights, tickets for lifts and shuttles for the whole duration, guiding in the parks and Bormio by us as well as a locally guided & shuttled tour to Bernina for a minimum of 4 days and the 5 day will be optional.
Difficulty
All bike parks and riding destinations on this trip provide a great variety of trails in terms of difficulty and we will work ourselves up from the easy to the most challenging. Please take into account that there will be demanding technical terrain with many obstacles and esp. in Bormio and Bernina there will be no easy way down so please consider this before your booking request. We won’t be doing much uphill aside of some maybe 500-800m in Bormio and Bernina or Stelvio, so the trip won’t be difficult in terms of stamina. However as we will be doing a lot of riding over multiple days you have to be used to riding this way.
As part of the booking process we will contact you and check basic riding experience to ensure safety yourself and the whole group. Our goal is to set up a relatively balanced team of riders in order to maintain a healthy riding pace during the entire trip so that everyone is safe and has fun.
