Our bike camp for beginners is focused on building the most important basics for riding on the trails – correct position, braking, balance, turning, and lifting the wheels. This way you will be able to control your bike more confidently, avoid potential injuries and perhaps above all enjoy the time on your bike like never before.

Camp program

1. Basic technical inspection of the bicycle before riding – Bike Check
2. Correct dynamic position on the bicycle depending on the situation
3. Safe braking with both brakes and their correct dosing
4. Precise front and rear wheel control and route selection
5. Basics of cornering and proper technique of working with the body and bicycle
6. Passing obstacles by lifting the front and rear wheels

Difficulty

Is this Bike Camp for you?
The camp is designed mainly for beginners that want to build a strong basis for trail riding, feel more in control of their bike and have more joy when in the saddle. Intermediate riders are also welcome as many of the techniques and exercises are designed to improve overall feel for the bike and how to operate it best. Finally it doesn’t matter whether you have experience with riding trails or bike parks, the most important thing is that you want to improve and are willing to listen and learn. The only thing you have to be aware of is that the camp is intense and full day camp – so it will take a lot of energy and stamina.

Warning!
Most riders often skip these basics, and immediately immerse themselves in more advanced techniques such as bunny hops, jumps, manuals, drops, endo’s etc. But this often leads to the creation of bad habits, which are very difficult to unlearn later on and will slow down overall progress. On the contrary, if you build a strong foundation early on, all these more advanced techniques will be easier to pick up.

Gear

Mandatory gear (you can’t ride with us without it):
Enduro/XC Helmet
Knee pads
Rain Jacket
Spare tube (in case of a flat)

Recommended gear (up to you, but highly recommended):
Platform pedals*
Shin guards
Sun screen

*SPD/Clipless pedals usually tend to help bikers to control the bike in inefficient ways, affecting technique negatively. We recommend to change them for platform pedals at least for a short period of learning, though it is not required.

Bike

As this is a mountain bike-specific camp, please make sure your bike fits the category (e.g. no city or road bikes), just make sure its in good rideable condition – brakes, tires, derailleur etc.
