Enduro Trails by the Sea
Long E-Bike Weekend
5 Days 22-26.2 Wed-Sun
Zagreb & Omiš, HR

Attention: This trip aside of using the lift in Zagreb on day 1 will be e-bike only, i.e. no shuttling in Omiš, our motors and legs will do all the work. If you are looking for the shuttled trip or the pedal-only trip please check out the main page here.

Join us for a 5 day bike trip with 3 full days of awesome trail riding in some of the best bike locations in Croatia for All-mountain/Enduro. You will enjoy all Croatia has to offer – the sun, the sea, the delicious cuisine and the many many rocky/rooty trails for an unforgettable experience. Now in winter if we are lucky we will have 12-15 degrees Celsius in the shade, which is ideal for riding both up and down.

Zagreb
Our trip starts in Zagreb where we will have a stopover for the night so that we don’t have to drive the 8 or so hours straight through and discover a fantastic riding location at the same time. While there we will be using the newly opened Zagreb Lift up to the top of the Medvednica mountain, which features many fantastic trails similar to ours in character. Thanks to the height of above 1000m the trails are much longer with the longest ride down taking over 6km. At about 3pm we will pack up our gear and head out to finish the second leg of our trip to reach Omiš at about 9pm in the evening still early enough for a good dinner or a drink by the beach before bed.

Omiš
The main destination of our trip is the coastal town of Omiš featuring breathtaking views of both mountains and the sea. Calm waters hidden behind the island of Brač promise a great soaking in the relatively warm Adriatic sea very refreshing before or after a day of riding. The mountain range above Perun is criss-crossed by mountain bike trails, which the local group Coast Riders have been building over many years now. This is a fantastic and very unique place to ride flowy trails riddled with natural obstacles however mostly rock. As the trails are quite close to the town and the uphill relatively short we will try all the trails from easiest to hardest and if we feel like it can repeat the best again.

You can look forward to fantastic food, great times at the beach after riding and most of all perfect riding on these unique trails.

Difficulty

ATTENTION: As this is an E-bike trip in a relatively difficult location (mostly blue trails, but much more rocky and less flowy than usual), please consider whether your technique, i.e. riding skills are appropriate. We want to ensure you and the group is safe and has fun on the trails. Please read the following carefully and if not sure whether you fit the difficulty level reach out to us and we can assist in helping you decide whether the trip is right for you.

We will be riding mostly natural trails that have been upgraded by trail builders to suit the mountain bikers needs. What you can expect though is that Croatia is very rocky, therefore there will be lot of rocks in all shapes and sizes. Zagreb is a stop-over location for the 1st day and features very similar type of trails as here in Slovakia, i.e. fast natural forrest flow trails with some manmade obstacles, the trails are not difficult, though long with some steep parts and some trails have tricky parts here and there. Zagreb will therefore prepare us well for the remaining two days im Omiš and is a good warm up.

Omiš is a coastal town nestled underneath a rocky mountain range called Perun, where all the action will happen. The trails in Omis are mostly blue to red in difficulty, expect fast and flowy sections, but with the “Croatian-Flow”, i.e. rocky terrain with everything ranging from loose dirt, pebbles, fist sized rocks up to a truck-worth of rock, but the riding is still fast and fun, rather than slow and technical. There are some natural technical sections like drops from rocks, manmade jumps from rocks, many steep chutes on rocky ledges as well as many berms and off-camber turns all build on, around or with; you’ve guessed it rocks. Imber where the annual Avalanche-style race is held is the most fun as well as the most difficult trail in all respects – getting there takes quite a hike-and-bike, and on the trail you’ll face many tricky obstacles with the start being a very nice rocky ridge, beautiful views along the top part continuing into a beautiful forrest in the lower part, which holds tons of fun features like roll-downs from rocks, steeps chutes, some switchback action, but you can still carry good speed all the way.

As always we will be working ourselves up gradually from the easiest trails to the hardest. As part of the booking process we will contact you and check basic riding experience to ensure safety yourself and the whole group. Our goal is to set up a relatively balanced team of riders in order to maintain a healthy riding pace during the entire trip so that everyone is safe and has fun.

Itinerary

Day 1
We will individually travel to Zagreb and check-in our accommodation and get a good nights rest.

Day 2
In Zagreb we will tackle 6 very different flowy, well maintained trails on Medvednica mountain.

Day 3
Our first day in Omiš on its single trails with a constant view on the Adriatic sea. Specific gravel like surface with some rocky parts, manmade jumps and drops. You can expect a ton of great trails with sea views, loads of fun and also some sweat in climbing up to them. Fortunately the uphills are not long and we will have a comfortable tempo to enjoy the riding fully.

Day 4
First we will kick off the day with a hearty bike & hike uphill from the end of the road where the van will drop us off and enjoy Imber trail a pure enduro experience. We will enjoy a good lunch after the ride and in the afternoon we will continue to explore the shore of the sea on the best trails together with our guide and the shuttle.

Day 5
We will pack up our stuff, say goodbye to the sea with a splash and set sails for home.

E-bike

As this is a trip to a rocky mountain and relatively difficult terrain, please make sure your e-bike fits the category, a full-suspension e-bike with at least 140mm front and back, ideally more. Battery-wise it doesn’t matter, although if you have a light e-bike then a range extender would be great catching up with e-bikes a large battery may drain yours faster. However we will choose a speed and tempo so that the whole group has fun, so don’t worry we won’t leave you behind.

Warning – Make sure the e-bike is in very good riding condition – brakes, tires, derailleur etc. If we find a serious problem at the bike check, you will have to have it fixed before you can join us riding.

If you have a hardtail and still want to go, let us know and we will agree individually. If not sure let us know.
